Yesterday, Superintendent of Schools Joey Hassell ordered that East Side Elementary School students stay home today. It’s not because of sickness—it’s because of grief. An East Side fourth-grade teacher died unexpectedly Wednesday night. Hassell didn’t elaborate but said students should stay at home today. Staff members are to report to work.
